Army Welfare Service at Catterick Garrison working with Rural Arts North Yorkshire have commissioned artist Dionne Swift to empower four groups of military wives through a two year textiles project.

The groups have learnt to sew, print and make items for their homes and by doing this the have been empowered and given skills for life. The project has also tackled the characteristic problems associated with forces families of isolation; loneliness and lack of self esteem and has been pivotal in supporting positive pier relationships that have been extended beyond the group.

This project has been made possible by the support of the Arts Council England, North Yorkshire County Council, Armed Forces Community Covenant, Janome and the Green Howards Museum Richmond.
