Karie herself lived through childhood trauma, although never in the foster care system, she knew she wanted to be a foster parent. She wanted to make sure kids felt loved and wanted, regardless of their situation. Karie is the mother of two amazing kiddos. Her youngest was adopted from foster care. After becoming a foster parent, Karie saw children coming into care with nothing to call their own. These children were being taken from the only home they had ever known and moved in with strangers with nothing familiar to offer them comfort. Karie also quickly realized the stigma that is associated with kids in the foster care system and started a personal mission to bring awareness to the foster care community and kids in the system.
